Team Acaia is back from Houston, Texas, with another Specialty Coffee Association Expo under our (Orion's) belt! If you were among the attendees, you would have found us in the George R. Brown Convention Center, April 27-
This was a great event for us, which included the global launch of a brand new product, reunions with valued industry friends, new connections, and more. We demoed our expanding range of products for many, saw the latest innovations on the show floor, and drank a lot of delicious coffee.
Read ahead to learn about the Umbra Lunar lift-off, what we got up to at the booth, and what our team saw in and outside the exhibition!
At The Booth
From the moment the doors opened, we welcomed many local and international coffee people to booth #2531. We demoed our range of products, including all color and burr options of the Orbit grinder and all sizes of the Orion bean doser line. Those present could get hands-on experience with scales like the Pearl, Pearl Model S, and Lunar, and experience our weighing technology for themselves. Our team was present to answer any questions, and we had the pleasure of reuniting with many of our official resellers and friends from the global coffee community.
The gathering of so many industry professionals and home enthusiasts also allowed us to introduce an exciting new product in real-time.
Umbra Lunar
Coinciding with the opening time of SCA Expo 2025, we announced the worldwide release of a new Acaia scale: the Umbra Lunar!
Unique for its display-free appearance, it is lacking in little else. The Umbra Lunar has the lowest price point of our scales, with a minimum capacity of 0.1 gram and a maximum of 1000 grams. The scale connects with the Acaia Pearl and can show the readings of both scales on the paired scale's LED screen. You can also toggle between either product's weight or time readings, and change modes through our Magic Relay connection. On The Show Floor
This year's event welcomed over 600 exhibitors, with many roasters, baristas, and farmers among that number traveling to Houston to take part. Our team enjoyed some incredible coffee and tea while exploring the floor over the three-day exposition.
And we were not the only ones to bring fresh ideas with us! We demoed a range of exciting new coffee equipment from many companies, including ROEST, Mazzer, Aillio, Fellow, Baratza, and Meticulous. We had the chance to see all of these innovative products in action, thanks to their teams, and learned more about their forms and functions.
And if you missed it, we were delighted to take part in the inaugural Cafe Imports Scavenger Hunt. The game was an event-wide search for the eight participating companies, with incredible prizes for the winners! Did you take part?
Reseller Party
At every major coffee event, there are always many satellite events across the surrounding city. For this Houston gathering, events included parties in huge dance halls, quiet games nights, and the occasional coffee cupping session. On Friday evening during Expo, we hosted a private event for some of our visiting resellers and friends. Located in the fun surroundings of Cidercade, we ate pizza, played arcade games, and even had a special cake as a sign of appreciation for our distributors and close industry partners! We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
